Community Focus Group Summary

July 29, 2026

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated in our Community Focus Group Meeting held on July 29, 2026 at the Los Altos Community Center. The session brought together a total of 50 people (20 in person and 30 joining via Zoom) interested in helping shape the vision for a vibrant senior living community that embraces culturally sensitive programming celebrating south asian culture. The discussion was thoughtful, candid, and productive, with participants sharing valuable perspectives that will help guide the project's next phase.

What We Heard

Several common themes emerged throughout the discussion:

The community should be designed primarily for active, independent seniors, rather than focusing on memory care, skilled nursing, or medical services.
Location—particularly being close to family and existing social networks—is a top priority.
Participants envisioned a high-quality community with strong programming, opportunities for lifelong learning, wellness activities, and meaningful social engagement.
Dining should offer a variety of cuisines and experiences while celebrating Indian culture.
The goal is to create a community that feels culturally welcoming without limiting its appeal to a broader audience.
Pricing and affordability were among the most important topics raised, highlighting the need for clear financial planning and transparency. Identification of these ranges is critical in next steps.
Participants emphasized the importance of creating spaces and experiences that foster connections across generations, giving friends and family compelling reasons to visit often and making the community a destination for shared experiences.
The discussion also highlighted the diverse needs of longtime local US residents and those planning to relocate from India after retirement, reinforcing the importance of offering flexible options that accommodate a broad range of lifestyles.

What's Next

The feedback from this session will directly inform our planning efforts. Our next steps include:

expanding community outreach through the ongoing surveys,
refining the project's financial model,
visiting established senior living communities to learn from proven best practices, and engaging experienced developers and operators to help shape a sustainable, high-quality community.

This focus group is one of a series of conversations that will continue to shape the project's vision. As planning progresses, we will continue to engage the community, incorporate their feedback, highlight key milestones, and share opportunities for continued engagement.
